Links we like

  • ASPCA Poison Control Centre - a great resource for plants and other household things toxic to pets: according to them, the five most potentially dangerous plants to cats, dogs and other companion animals are Lily, Azalea, Oleander, Sago Palm and Castor Bean.
  • Canadian Federation of Humane Societies - a Canadian advocacy organization for member SPCAs and humane societies
  • Adopt-an-Animal Canada - in its infancy, this private group is dedicated to spreading information on adoptable animals in Canadian Shelters
  • Petfinder - still the big one! Still your best resource for finding adoptable pets online. Though US-based, many Canadian shelters and rescues maintain a web presence on Petfinder, including most of our NS SPCA Branches.
  • CanadaStrays.com - another new private initiative to reunite lost pets with their owners and increase pet adoptions in Canada
  • 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com - an American-based private initiative to increase pet adoptions throughout North America
